Strangely enough, this full-color cover had been designed,
produced, approved and prepped for print. We moved on to the interior pages
and finished up 25 chapters--then suddenly the author changed his mind and
asked for the cover to be recreated from scratch. (It originally had a mountain
path going up into a foggy horizon. The author wanted an eagle image.)
I was confused, but at lunch I saw a point of purchase
ad with a font treatment I really liked. I came back to work and added that
almost blur glow to the Truth & Freedom text. Then used a scripty-quill
pen font, a new photograph, some filter effects and a reworking of the entire
color scheme. I worked the file almost completely in Photoshop CS now that
fonts aren't automatically downsized in resolution.
Basically you wouldn't recognize the other cover if you
saw it. The author loved it, and we had a much better piece. I don't know
what he suddenly didn't like about the first one, but in the end I think
we got a much better product. Another incredible case of "all things
working together for good" when I least expected it.
Now it's an internet course, a workbook, and a teacher's
manual!
