Gallery of Artwork Produced by Dye Printing

Full-color cover, designed and interior pages printed for Rand Hummel of The Wilds Christian Camp.

Going with a guidebook as a theme, several treatments were created, adjusted, and discarded before this cover was finally chosen. The author had a book cover idea he had seen and we used that as a jumping off point. The velvet texture in the middle was created with the "Render Clouds" feature in PhotoShop. The darker border is the same layer, duplicated and played with in Hue/Saturation and Brightness/Contrast. The text (including the font Textile) was laid out in FreeHand, converted to paths and imported into the PhotoShop file. The border was hand created in FreeHand utilizing the compass theme. The compass itself started as clip art, colors removed, punch outs created, then brought into PhotoShop. There it suffered through several filters to give is a "stamped" feel, including Add Noise, Texturizer, Photocopy, and Emboss. Its layer was adjusted to be slightly transparent.
