Photoshop Sharpening Like a Master

Use Channels!

For better output, sharpen the Red and Green channels separately in an RGB document. (>Window>Channels or in the Layers Palette, click on the Channels tab).

Deselect the Blue, click on the Red and Green.

Go to >Filter>Sharpen

Then deselect the Red and Green and click on the Blue Channel.

Now go to >Filter>Noise>Despeckle.

Already have a CMYK document? Try this:

Go to Channels

Deselect the Black, click on the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

Go to >Filter>Sharpen

Then deselect the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow and click on the Black Channel.

Now go to >Filter>Noise>Despeckle.

Remember to click on the RGB or CMYK combo channel at the top of the Channels Palette so you can continue editing your document.
