How Do I More Brushes In PhotoShop?

They came with your CD, but you might not have access to them. To load more is easy and gives you lots and lots of painting options. Of course, there is a downside. The more brushes you load, the longer it takes for PhotoShop to launch. But we're talking a few more seconds for many more hours worth of creativity. And you don't have to load all the brushes that are available! And any grayscale image can become a brush. Wanna see how?

1. Launch PhotoShop and go to your Brush Palette. Note the tiny arrow? Click on that and go down to Load Brushes (about halfway down)

2. There should be a whole library of Brushes. If you don't see them navigate on your hard drive to the Adobe PhotoShop folder, then to Presets, then to Brushes.

3. Click on an ".abr" file of your choice. Give PhotoShop a moment to add more brushes, then go back to the Brushes Palette. Scroll down. You should have more to chose from. Here's an example of the Hairy Brushes--great for rendering human hair, fur, and strangely enough wood grains! Click here for a making Pine.
