The Transparent Grid Isn't Working for my Project. What Can I Do?

Depending on the colors of your project, that transparency grid pattern might not be all that helpful. I call it the kitchen floor tile, but whatever you call it, the white and light gray checkerboard might hide pixels you need to see. (See Masking Techniques for some more help with finding those wayward pixels.)

But you can customize this floor tile to better show off what you're trying to see.

First go to Photoshop>Preferences>Transparency & Gamut:

The drop down "Grid Colors" offers a few choices like "Medium" (also "Dark").

There's also Orange:

Blue (Red, Green, and Purple too):

But if the white alone bugs you, click on the each of the two swatches directly below Grid Colors and make your own pattern to set off your image.

And going back to "Grid Size" you can also make the tiles "Medium" and "Large"...
